Joe Armstrong
Rochester, MN
Joe Armstrong moved to Rochester in 1989 with his wife and three children. Joe has been creating wood products as a hobby for all of his adult life making cabinets, toys, jewelry boxes, cutting boards and even a piano bench for his son. He discovered lathe work about 10 years ago and has enjoyed adding turned wood to his repertoire ever since. Joe started doing pyography (wood burning) when carving with the Rochester Woodcarvers Club. Originally, it was to define feathers on birds, now Joe likes to incorporate wood burning on many pieces where it fits, customizing the piece for the recipient. Making sawdust is a favorite activity and sometimes something beautiful emerges.
